Our partner in Mexico works hand in hand with communities in Mexico to provide holistic education combined with community action programs that enable people to improve their quality of life as well as their financial stability. Peace is a non-profit organization made up of four main programs, which focus on education, entrepreneurship, animal well-being, and community engagement in the Southern region of Nayarit, Mexico.

They are continually striving to improve their work, and look to volunteers and interns to help make that happen. Community Development refers to activities that help build capacity and create the building blocks for lasting change. It encompasses a wide variety of tasks.

Positions Available for this Project:

Marketing & Media Assistant Coordinator

This is a position associated with the marketing and media structure of PEACE on a large scale, and encompasses all programs. This position requires a knowledge of PEACE as an organization and the ability to write about one or all of the programs and the projects we are involved in at any given time.

Description of Activities:

* Analyze current marketing plan to understand better what we are doing.
* Maintain bi-weekly blog writing and follow-ups. Also maintain full communication with the marketing director of PEACE and also our web masters.
* Assist in creating our Press Releases for whatever events and activities we are working on at the time.
* Assist in follow-ups with previously established Press relationships, in establishing new relationships and in the overall progress of our press networking.

Program Planner: Continuing Education for Women

We seek to empower and enhance the quality of life of local women by sharing with them a way of thinking and feeling about themselves and the world around them that allows them to lead healthier lives.

We operate a social enterprise that blends ecological awareness, women's empowerment and artistic creation. It is a grassroots organization composed of women from semi-rural, economically disadvantaged areas in Mexico. Our line of products is mostly crafted from recycled materials. Proceeds from the sale of the products provide much needed income for these women and their families. A portion of the sales will go to outreach educational programs and workshops.

Individuals are needed to develop and deliver workshops on a variety of topics including, but not limited to, nutrition, family psychology, sexual education, first aid, hygiene, sewing, jewelry making, ecology, finances; Anything that focuses on continuous education of the woman for their physical, emotional, financial well being and growth.

Everyone. Must have expertise in particular field of interest to be taught.

Description of Activities

* Assessment of particular needs of the Manos Unidas women and how this relates to the volunteers expertise.
* Once needs have been identified, design and develop a written program that can be taught in segments of two hours from a minimum of eight hours to a maximum of 36 hours.
* The course must be comprehensive, and clearly reported; other volunteers and local coordinators must be able to develop program after volunteer has finished placement.
* Workshops and program must be written and taught in Spanish.
* The workshop designer must teach the entire course he/she has designed.
