Spend six weeks living in a college of the University of Cambridge and earn transfer credits in English Literature, taught by OCC professors. Excursions and cultural experiences will also be on offer – have an unforgettable summer, make friends for life and earn transfer credit!

Reach Cambridge specialises in providing residential study programmes in Cambridge, England. Reach Cambridge has been working with Orange Coast College for over six years, running a popular study abroad programme in English Literature for college students from the US. The courses are taught by OCC professors.

The course is taught by Professor Karen Felts who specialises in British Literature. Students will have the option of studying one or more of the following transfer credit courses:

  • English 101, which meets the critical thinking requirements for CSU and UC transfer OR
  • English 148, British Film as Literature, which meets the humanities transfer requirements for CSU and the UCs
  • Independent studies for British Literature will also be available.

Students benefit from small class sizes, making for a more personal learning experience.

Each course meets twice a week, leaving students ample time to explore Cambridge, the rest of England and mainland Europe. In Cambridge you will be surrounded by over 800 years of history, and this is reflected in the beautiful architecture across the town. There are also many shops, pubs, and museums in which to spend your free time. London is only 45 minutes away by train, making evening and weekend trips to the capital easily arranged.

Students live in the dormitories of the stunning Girton College. Each student has their own room with a daily maid service. Girton has extensive grounds, so there will be plenty of opportunities for sport. Two Cambridge students will be staying with you for the duration of the programme, and they will be there to help with any problems, organise lots of local activities and excursions, and help you to arrange trips further afield. Living as part of a group you will make friends for life and spend an unforgettable summer together.

There will be an overnight trip to London included in the cost, with tickets to see a play and a boat tour along the river Thames. There will also be optional extra excursions to York, Edinburgh and even Paris. All in all, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to earn transfer credit while having an unforgettable summer in the inspiring environment of Cambridge, and make friends for life.
