To ensure our standards are being met, we are running a training month starting on 1st March.

We are looking for RYA Cruising Instructors to join our professional team teaching RYA Day Skipper and RYA Competent Crew courses. The RYA Cruising Instructor role will take you sailing around the Ionian stopping in different harbours every night. To compliment our bareboat charter holidays we run an average of 4 to 5 RYA courses per week. Your work as a cruising instructor will be varied, with informal training for guests as well as skippered charters. At times you will work on the quay being involved in the preparation and checking of yachts.

The highest standards are maintained in all aspects of our operations starting with maintenance and cleanliness of our yachts. As one of our selected RYA Cruising Instructors, you will provide all training to a high standard and we will support the development of your sailing and interpersonal skills to achieve these goals. All levels of cruising instructor will be considered from those newly qualified to those with extensive experience.

Being a Cruising Instructor at Sail Ionian  is both challenging and rewarding with opportunities for progression.

2 Weeks Training on the Water
We will be launching an RYA training yacht as well as an Open 40 catamaran and the largest yacht we have – a Bavaria 56. All new and current skippers/instructors will enjoy two weeks of intense training. During this two week period you will learn big boat and catamaran power handling and sailing as well as teaching sessions with our Chief Instructor.

Yacht Delivery
Mid March there will be an opportunity to join our annual delivery trip. Our brand new yachts need delivering down from Slovenia. This trip takes around a week, weather dependent.

Yacht Launching
The last week of March you will get the chance to brush up on your power handling and Med mooring skills as we launch the other 39 yachts. With a lot of companies, you will start in a boat yard doing yacht prep for the season.  We feel our training package offers new employees a great chance to develop and learn and get comfortable in the Sail Ionian manner of doing things.

Basic Job Role Requirements
As a Sail Ionian Instructor you will be required to carry out RYA training, specialised training (Mile Builders), assisted and skippered charter, quay work, pre season yacht preparation, yacht checks and briefings.
