Dear friends, colleagues and future participants of our workcamps in Russia!
In volunteer season 2010 we are happy to see you in our ecological camps in the most beautiful places of our wonderful and picturesque country.

The project is organized by Moscow Ecological Center Zapovedniks and Baikal’sky National Reserve (http://zapovednik.e-baikal.ru/english/about.html). The Reserve is situated on the South bank of the Baikal Lake in the Buryatia Republic near the central part of Khamar-Daban Range.
Since 2007 the Reserve’s staff creates an education open-air exposition Green necklace of Baikal. This 15-meter model-copy of the Lake Baikal should become one of the main exhibits for the tourists and school groups visiting Reserve. Last years vols have begun this project: the reservoir in the form of Lake Baikal is dug out; were built and pained a relief around the Baikal’s model - mountain ridges, the rivers, valleys.
W: landscape design of the area around the Baikal’ models - decorative planting and improvement and continue work with the model - to indicate the biggest cities and lakeside protected natural territories.
A: in the Visit-center house in the Tanhoi village (10 min to the Baikal Lake, 20 min to the work place), with beds and blankets. Vols will cook by their own on a fully equipped kitchen. Toilet and shower are in the building. Banya (Russian sauna) is provided.
S: excursions on the territory of Baikal’sky Reserve to the waterfall, the Nature Museum, ethnographical excursion; 3-days study tour up to the Mountains or excursion on the boats to Delta of the Selenga River (depended from weather conditions).

RU-ECZ 6.3 Siberian Hunter’s path

The project is organized by Moscow Ecological Center Zapovedniks and Nature Park Ergaki. The nature of the Park is various and very beautiful - there are valleys, high mountains (Sayans), forests with wild animals, ancient glaciers, waterfalls, lakes. Different types of herbs blossom in meadows.
Ergaki attracts more and more visitors every year because of its wonderful untouched nature and easy transport access. At the moment all tourist eco-paths aim to demonstrate to the people biological and landscape variety of the park. ‘Siberian Hunter Path’ will expose Siberian taiga diversity and local community’s life. The path will give opportunity to make guided eco-excursions in order to raise the level of ecological education of the Ergaki visitors.
Traditional hunting tools and equipment, hunter huts, which are built according to local architectural traditions, local cuisine and folklore will create for the visitors the ambience of Siberian hunter’s life. The result of the path-making will be the possibility to demonstrate, how hunting can exist in harmony with nature without injuring it.
W: to continue the project Siberian Hunter’s Path started last year: marking the path, tracking, constructing bridges over streams and a summerhouse, put information stands.
A: tent camp near the working place (tents are provided). No electricity. Shower and toilet are outside and very simple. Cooking by themselves on an open fire. The distance to the federal highway - 10km, to the nearest town – 50km. Local mobile operator.
S: tour along the path “Stone Town”, climbing the Peaks, studying animal life and nature of West Sayans region, visiting music ethno festival Sayan Ring in small town Shushenskoe (where Lenin was in exile).

RU-ECZ-6.4 Soul of Sayan Mountains

The project is organized by Moscow Ecological Center Zapovedniks and Nature Park Ergaki. The nature of the Park is various and very beautiful - there are valleys, high mountains (Sayans), forests with wild animals, ancient glaciers, waterfalls, lakes. Different types of herbs blossom in meadows. Ergaki attracts more and more visitors every year because of its wonderful untouched nature and easy transport access.
Project aim: construction of ecological path “Soul of Sayany” using natural materials. At the end of the path a beautiful and unforgettable view opens on a “Sleeping Sayany”- one of the most mysterious and enigmatic objects of the Park. The special object of the path will be the bell “Soul of Sayany”.
W: construction of the path with natural materials and covering laying, path marking, installation of the bell “Soul of Sayany”, installation of information boards.
A: in field conditions in tents, no electricity, field toilet/ shower. Cooking by themselves on an open fire. The distance to the federal highway - 1km, to the nearest town – 50km. Local mobile operator.
S: tour along the path “Stone Town”, learning about wild life of the park (animals and plants), excursion to the lake Svetloye and to the most famous park objects, rafting down the river Ous is possible.

RU-ECZ 6.5 Landscape Theater

The project is organized by Moscow Ecological Center Zapovedniks and Kenozersk National Park. Kenozersk National Park is a model object, where the history and culture of the Russian North is preserved. Nature complexes and objects, numerous monuments of material and spiritual culture, architecture, monumental painting, icon painting, archeology, rich ethnographic material were reserved here.
The historic-cultural elements of the Park’s cultural landscapes (St. Groves, chapels, holy roods, dwelling constructions and household outbuildings etc.) are the objects with high value. It is original visiting card of the Park and makes it a unique region that has no analogue in Russia no in other Countries of the world.
An international festival will take place in the Park 1-11 July. Artists, painters, architects, sculptors, musicians, experts and restorers from Europe and Russia will participate in it. Two architectural open-air expositions will be built during the festival: Architectural Park “Kenozerskiye birulki” and “Landscape theatre North Equator”. During the holyday there will be concerts of Russian and foreign folklore groups, camp of artisans, Fair, St. John the Baptist Holiday etc.
W: the volunteers will help stuff of the Park to prepare the festival; further equip the ecological path “Path of Ant Hills” (install the information signs, make floorings); assist in landscape cuttings on the place of future Architectural Park “Kenozerskiye birulki”. Everybody could stay longer during the Festival till 11 July and take part in creating of the art-objects of Land-Art and help in realization of this Festival.
A: in the youth summer camp in spectacular place surrounded by lakes. The volunteers will live in wood houses or tent camp (tbc), banya (Russian sauna), WC outside. Before the Festival the vols will cook themselves on the open fire in specially equipped place. During the festival the food will be organized in the kitchen-canteen. The nearest civilization (village Morschihinskaya) with shops and post office is in 7km. Mobile operator – Megafon.
S: Village Maselga – is an original tourist center of the Park, where the most popular tourist routs and ecological paths begins. During the camp the volunteers will travel on System of Five Lakes on funny local boats to the first rebuilt and functional water mill in North-East of Russia. The Great watershed of Atlantic and Arctic Ocean is situated near the camp. The ecological paths: Path of Thinking, TransKenozersk Path and others begin here. There are also many other interesting objects.
Sculptors, architects, designers from Russia and Europe, folk craft artisans and folk groups will take part in KenArt Festival. The Festival program assumes active involving of all the participants in the work creative process (Installation of Landscape Theatre), and in holiday programs, master-classes and excursions.

RU-ECZ 6.6 Legend of Tirmentau

The project is organized by Moscow Ecological Center Zapovedniks and National Reserve Shulgan-Tash. The Reserve is situated in the mountain and forest part of South Ural, in the Bashkortostan Republic. It is well-known by beekeeping and by famous Shulgan-Tash cave. Petroglyphic of Paleolithic period, underground rivers and lake, ancient legends attract thousands of tourists to this sacral place.
W: Maintenance of ecological path (cleaning from different bushes, fallen trees, stones), wooden flooring, stairway, viewpoint with pavilion on the top of the mountain Tirmentau, info signs.
A: In the tents on the Reserve camping site on the River Belaya 2 km away from the main gallery of the cave with ancient drawings. On the way to the cave you can see wooden sculptures, souvenir shop, museum of Bee forest, museum of nature, bee garden, honey bar with different types of honey. River showers and traditional Russian sauna. Compost toilets outside. Cooking by volunteers on open fire. Electricity is available. The nearest city Beloretsk is in 250 km, the village Starosubhangulovo in 40 km. There are plenty of shops nearby, no Internet, mobile communication is available.
S: excursions in museums of the Reserve, cave trips, rafting. Vols will learn the basics of wild-hive beekeeping, myths and legends of Bashkir people. There is possibility to work as a guide for tourists for Russian speaking vols.
