Recycle Rebuild

Recycle Rebuild is a registered charity in Scotland empowering communities to recycle waste into affordable, high-quality building materials, whilst providing an immediate source of income for those affected by natural disasters.

We are a nonprofit organisation made up of a passionate group of individuals. We are Architects, Designers, Journalists, Photographers and most importantly Humanitarians.

We care deeply about the environment and how humanity lives within it. Using the power of design and our ingenuity, we actively look for problems in the waste stream and design solutions that better the community.

Help Make A Difference

Recycle Rebuild began as a collective between two architects but has grown into an organisation full of passionate humanitarians and environmentalists.

There are no paid staff in Recycle Rebuild and it is solely run by committed volunteers like you. Together we can make a difference and preserve the environment. Because of this Recycle Rebuild are always looking for new volunteers and urges you to apply for one of the following volunteer positions.

Recycle Rebuild is focused on empowering communities to create recycled products from waste. Our products are great, however now we need great packaging and branding. Because of this, we are looking for a skilled graphic/packaging designer to help us in designing the product packaging that we intend to distribute globally. Promoting our brand, mission and the communities we serve.

Volunteer Dominica

  • 8 - 48hrs per week

Recycle Rebuild is looking for passionate volunteers to come and join the Recycle Rebuild Team in Dominica.  This project currently needs a wide range of skill sets and plenty of hands. If you want a volunteering experience where you can see the impact you have made at the end of each day; and even take a piece of that impact home with you.

Dominica is classed as a lower middle-income country and is the poorest of the South-eastern Caribbean islands. Located in one of the most disaster-prone regions in the world, it has a history of tropical storms and hurricanes.

On September 18, 2017, the worst natural disaster in the history of Dominica ravaged this small island nation. With wind gales as strong as 160 mph, Hurricane Maria blasted through the country, damaging 90% of all structures and knocking out all power, water and telecoms. Agencies such as Unicef and International Office of Migration, shipped in over 27,900,000 litres in plastic bottles (doesn’t include any sold soft drink bottles or food containers) and over 35,000 sheets of Tarpaulin to cover roofs in just the first two months. Now those original tarpaulins are leading to an environmental disaster as they are burnt or dumped by the community in an effort to get rid of their plastic problem.

Recycle Rebuild is in Dominica making a difference to the environment one piece of trash at a time. Every day we are cleaning, designing, educating and making products and we would love for you to join us.

No matter your skill set we need your support and hope you consider joining us in Dominica and getting your hands dirty.
