General Info

Protecting the Sea Turtles of Brazil. The TAMAR Project, administered by IBAMA in partnership with the Pro-TAMAR Foundation, monitors 1000 kilometers of beaches, with 20 stations covering 8 Brazilian states.

Want to make part in Tamar's trainee program? Send your curriculum vitae to be analyzed by our team. The vacancies are normally intended for University students or newly graduated students, of related areas, such as biology, oceanography, veterinary, education and others. ,

The main activities in the nesting areas are monitoring nesting females and hatchlings; female tagging; hatchlings handling; data collection and environmental education program. The trainee also participates of educational activities with fishing communities, schools, tourists and develops alternatives of subsistence with the local population.

The main activities in the foraging areas are monitoring fishing arts; turtles tagging; recuperation of net captured animals and environmental education.

In both areas requires work on Saturday, Sunday, holidays, Christmas and New Year Eve. Days off must be previously negotiated with the base coordinator.

Is not allowed travels to visit family, boyfriend or girlfriend, event participation or any other purpose. Beside that will be situations which requires to stay in places almost uninhabited without any infrastructure, where TAMAR develops activities.

The candidate has three options to choose: 1 month, 3 months or 6 months trainee program, depending on which base is chosen. Each base has its own selection period, pre requisites and trainee profile.
