Voluntary Work in Chile

Company : Oyster Worldwide
Activities: Volunteer with Children / Learn Spanish / Career Break / Family Adventures Holidays / Community Volunteer Projects / Patagonia Tours / Cultural Tours
Country: Chile
Location : Coyhaique, Chile
Duration: 3 months to 6 months
Approx Costs: 3000+ to 3000+ £ Pound (UK)

Discover the wonders of relatively undeveloped Chile whilst perfecting your Spanish and teaching English to eager-to-learn kids.

Chile - long, thin and utterly beautiful! Head south and you'll find the dramatic lakes and mountains of Patagonia - perfect for the active traveller. Coyhaique, where you will be based, is the self-styled capital of Patagonia.

This is an amazing opportunity for anyone who loves the wilderness, because Coyhaique is surrounded by spectacular, jagged mountains and you will have plenty of chances to hike, bike, camp, ride and kayak.

You will help teach English in selected primary and secondary schools in this small and friendly town. The programme includes a three-day camping expedition through rugged, unforgettable landscapes and a cultural orientation - including exploring the local area, Spanish practice, rafting and cooking.

What will I do in Chile?

As a volunteer you will start off by assisting the English teacher until you feel ready to cope with a class on your own. No question, it's hard work - as any teacher in the world will tell you - but it's also amazingly rewarding.

At weekends you can meet up with other volunteers to explore, get outdoors with a trek or mountain bike ride, or just relax and enjoy Cohaique. Read our blog for more information.

Getting there

Our representatives will meet you at the Balmaceda Airport (Coyhaique is about 2,000 miles south of the Chilean capital, Santiago), sort out your paperwork and lodgings with a Chilean family - and start you off on your Spanish course.

Costs / Benefits

£3195 (Excluding flights) for 3 months, extra 4 weeks costs £310.

Full support is offered throughout including a cultural orientation. Food and accommodation is also included with a friendly local family that will significantly improve your Spanish.

Oyster Worldwide Voluntary Work in Chile Reviews

Working in Chile

I really enjoyed the hands-off nature of the program and couldn’t have been happier with the host family I had. Great experience.
