Spend your winter on the snowy peaks of Jasper, gaining your CSIA Level 1 and 2 ski or snowboard instructor qualification on our amazing 11 week course. Improve your skills, meet new friends and enjoy all the adventure activities available on the dazzling Canadian Rockies.
Working closely with Marmot Basin, these instuctor programmes have been specifically designed to be interesting, informative and useful. You will improve your skiing or snowboarding skills and the course will ensure that you are fully trained to be able to teach others.
Training at Marmot Basin will put you in a great position to gain employment on a future ski season! Split into sections, you will know the course outline in advance so that you know what to expect any given week. You will get full safety training and by shadowing qualified instructors, you will gain valuable work experience on the slopes.
Most of our instructors have gained Level 4 and have a lot of experience. As well as the standard ski/snowboard teaching training, Marmot Basin is unique because the course covers these extra elements:
After the first four weeks, you should expect to complete your CSIA Level 1. Achieving your Level 2 is understandably harder as the skills and techniques needed are at a higher level than your Level 1 exam so hard work and dedication is required, but it is 100% worth it!
For your CSIA Level 2, the course can be tailored to suit your own interests. You can choose one of two modules. Your options include focusing on either all-terrain training or working with children.
Since 2007, our partners in Marmot Basin have been running this gap year programme successfully. We are delighted to be working with them to help provide motivated and enthusiastic people from around the world gain professional ski instructor training. Become a member of the authentic mountain town community of Jasper which sits in the middle of the spectacular Jasper National Park – a World Heritage Site.
Although you are not working, you will be treated like a member of staff and that means you are eligible for Marmot staff perks. You’ll be able to get 30% off food (outside peak lunch hour), 15% off at the retail store and 50% off weekday rental and repairs.
9th January – 28th March
11 week programme and CSIA Level 1 and 2 for skiers costs £7550, excluding flights.
