We believe in the power of education to transform young people’s lives, families and communities for the better.

In Honduras, education is a privilege.

Less than half of ninth-graders have the opportunity to continue on to high school. And only one of every six high school graduates has access to higher education.

Our award-winning participatory, youth-led model of development creates opportunities for promising Honduran youth to become educated, empowered and engaged leaders of change.

Where We Work

OYE is located in El Progreso, a city of approximately 300,000 inhabitants that resides a mere 30 minutes outside of Honduras’ industrial capital, San Pedro Sula.

Volunteering

There is no better way to understand the true impact of what we do than experience OYE first-hand. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to meet our young scholars and leaders, be moved by their stories and inspired by their work.

We offer a unique and rewarding volunteer experience that emphasizes relationship-building and collaboration, whether you join us for one week or one year.

Since 2005, OYE has welcomed hundreds of international volunteers to make connections, learn and work alongside our staff and youth.
