The ultimate trip to Jordan to view the spectacular desert scenery of Wadi Rum, the stunning Rose Red City of Petra and float on the Dead Sea at the lowest place on Earth.

As well as the Roman Ruins in Jerash and the option of some snorkelling in the Red Sea town of Aqaba. This tour covers it all!

Day 1
Amman - Free day. Your Jordan travel adventure begins with you being met at Amman airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours at leisure until the evening when you will meet with your tour leader for an informal get together where they will chat to you about what you will be doing over the next week.

Day 2
Today you will go on a city tour visiting the Citadel, as well as the Roman Amphitheatre and bazaars. The city is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and as you wander around and soak up the history and culture, you will understand why. Later in the day you will visit Jerash, one of the most important and best preserved cities in the near East. The Oval Forum and Cardo Maximus, as well as the South Theatre are some of the highlights. Returning to Amman for the evening will give you further opportunity to discover this welcoming city.

Day 3
A scenic drive along the Kings Highway will bring us to Madaba, where we can visit St. Georges Church (which has the oldest known map of the world) and see the mosaics which this city is well known for. Continuing on through remote rural villages, we will find our way to Mt Nebo, with dramatic views over Israel and the Dead Sea before continuing on to Karak Castle, one of the largest crusader castles in the eastern mediterranean. Karak played an important role, being on the ancient trade routes of Bedouin herders from Damascus to Egypt & Mecca. We will arrive in Petra later in the day and you will be able to get a good night's rest in preparation for the next day.

Day 4
After breakfast we visit one of the single greatest attractions in the entire Middle East region - The Rose Red city of Petra. We include a local guide for approximately three hours, who will take you through the Siq, the long narrow corridor between sheer sandstone cliffs, which brings you out at the treasury. Your guide will explain about the various tombs, and the history of the Nabataeans and later the Romans, as well as the significance of the various rock hewn structures. You will have the rest of the day to explore this amazing site at your own pace. There will also be the option of Petra by night; a two-hour candle-lit guided visit through the ancient city with music and stories to help you experience Petra the way travel-weary traders of old must have known it.

Day 5
Today we depart from Petra and head towards Wadi Rum Desert. On the way we will stop in 'Little Petra' the 2nd most important site to visit in this area and is hidden away in the centre of a mountain. As you enter, you’ll realize why this was dubbed Siq al-Barid (the “Cold Siq”): almost no sun can reach inside to warm the place. Continuing on we arrive in Wadi Rum where we will meet up with some local guides who will take us on a 4 wheel drive jeep safari. We will explore the bizarre rock formations that rise out of the desert floor and also visit some of Lawrence of Arabia's desert haunts, such as the spring that supplied him and his desert army with water. Tonight we will watch the sunset and sleep in a traditional Bedouin goats hair tent in the middle of the desert. There will also be the option for a sunset camel safari.

Day 6
A sunrise in the Wadi Rum Desert is an experience not to be missed - you can wake very early and climb one of the nearby rock formations in order to watch the sunrise before having breakfast back at the camp. We then wave a warm farewell to our new Bedouin friends and head south to the Red Sea resort of Aqaba. Your guide will give you a short tour of the city and then the rest of the day is free for you to spend as you wish. Perhaps a day by the beach, some snorkelling or scuba diving to enjoy the Coral reefs of the world renowned Red Sea.

Day 7
Leaving the Red Sea behind we head north to the Dead Sea - where we can sit back, relax and float in the salty waters. At 400m below sea level it is hot all year round. The Dead Sea is extremely buoyant so drowning or sinking is a tricky feat, in fact it is almost impossible to swim! It's best to take a magazine and lie on your back and have a read while you float or view Israel just a few kilometres away on the opposite bank. Following this there may the chance to have a go at 'canyoning' in Wadi Mujib Reserve. It's a great way to wash off the salty water and freshen yourself up as well as walk and scramble your way to the impressive waterfall at the end of the gorge. Please note that this is only available between the months of April and October and when the water levels are safe. We will return to Amman in the late afternoon and it will be your last chance for a group meal with your new friends.

Day 8
Your trip comes to an end today after breakfast and we will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight.
