Responsibilities

These will vary from job to job. Some placements will be full time, usually 9am to 5pm, some part time either morning or afternoon only. Some placements will be a mixture of hours in the day or evening. You will be looking after children or babies, ages from 3 months to 13 years, in their chalet or hotel, or will be asked to take them out to play in the snow, meet with other nannies and children, or to meet with the parents for lunch.

Some families might ask you to take the children on a ride in a gondola or sledging (safety first!). Sometimes you just have to take a toddler for a nice stroll in town and a hot drink. Often your duty will be to pick up from the ski school or kindergarten. You might be asked to carry the children's skis if they are too tired. If you play indoors you will just have to be creative and use your imagination (we can offer training on activities and care). You will prepare lunch and snacks for the tired children. Mainly you will be carrying out duties requested by the eager skiers who will be keen to go out and leave you at home with their precious children, in the knowledge that you will keep them happy and safe until they get back.

Merinannies encourage a friendly but professional and courteous approach to the clients' needs.

Pay Rates/Hours of work

Merinannies offer a flexible service so you will be able to work as much or as little as you wish so that you can fit work around your skiing or boarding requirements. The rates vary from day to evening work and with your qualifications or experience. You can earn up to €700 per week for a full time job. You also normally get a good tip if the children are happy and the mothers too!
