We provide services (education, psychological assistance, recreation), supplies (food, clothing, items for school and home), and information on nutrition, education, and childcare to families in Santa Marta’s poorest neighborhoods.

We are helping the kids to help themselves. It could as well be us.

We believe that we could as well had been born in a small poor barrio with no lack of proper education, supplies, and no hopes. We were just lucky. And we feel that we are obligated to help those, who can’t make it on their own.

The foundation continues to grow, but we need your help! We are happy to accept foreign and local volunteers to help with administration, fundraising, and publicity and to teach classes and offer counseling to children.

We are also always very much in need of donations. Donations of as little as $10 USD can help us purchase food, clothing, shoes, and medicine for children in need. Looking for a longer commitment? Become a sponsor and change a child’s life. If you'd like to organise a fundraising event to put towards building our new school, please email us.

Volunteer

Volunteer in one of the most beautiful places on our planet - the Caribbean region of Colombia.

Are you planning to visit northern Colombia in your South American travels? Or are you sitting at home and daydreaming? Do you feel that you have some love to give? We'd be more than happy to welcome you to volunteer with Mariposas Amarillas.

We are looking for both temporary and long-term volunteers. You can decide yourself how long you want to stay, and you make your own work schedule. The benefit of this structure is that you will have plenty of time to take Spanish or dive courses, explore nearby areas such as Tayrona National Park, or just lie on the beach if you like!

What you can do with foundation will largely depend on your interests, skills, time commitment, and ability to speak Spanish. We welcome people with any skill, or none! Volunteers can help with administration, fundraising, and publicity and/or teach classes and offer counseling to children. This is a great opportunity to witness the operation of a true grassroots organization in South America while enjoying all Colombia's Caribbean coast has to offer.

But I'm not coming to Colombia!

Mariposas Amarillas is also working toward acquiring a more permanent location to house the foundation, a building to turn into a school in Fundadores, and more resources for our extracurricular education program. Donations of supplies, time, and money are greatly needed to expand the program.

We always need help with fund raising and publicity, so even if you are not planning a trip to Colombia in the near future, please contact us, we'd love to work with you!
