Founded in 2016 by Samar Awada and Brian Dobell, the Institute provides high quality instruction in colloquial Lebanese Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) for non-native speakers. Our clients include journalists, academics, diplomats, NGO personnel, university students, people of Lebanese and Arab origin and others who are interested in Arabic language and culture.

At the heart of the Institute is its program in Lebanese Arabic. This program is rooted in an innovative series of textbooks, entitled Lebanese Arabic from Scratch: A Course for Non-Native Speakers. Blending practical and theoretical approaches, we have designed these textbooks to equip students with relevant skills for everyday communication in the Lebanese dialect, as well as providing them with a solid understanding of the underlying grammatical structures connecting this language to Modern Standard Arabic.

The Institute offers group classes in Lebanese Arabic at regular intervals throughout the year (see the schedule), and arranges private and customized classes in Lebanese Arabic or Modern Standard Arabic upon request. Whatever your level of Arabic, we are ready to help you achieve your learning goals.
