La Isla Foundation

La Isla Foundation is dedicated to fighting the epidemic of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua.

La Isla Foundation is a 501-c-3 non-profit based in Leon, Nicaragua that supports the small community of La Isla, also known as “The Isle of Widows”, near Chichigalpa, in Norwestern Nicaragua, where generations of men are dying of a chronic kidney disease (CKD) epidemic. Access to proper medical treatment is limited and the families left behind live in severe poverty with no form of income.

We are currently working on proposals to secure funding in the areas of public health, mental health, water and sanitation, organic agriculture and women’s cooperative small business financing.

For all positions, individuals must be: 18 years old or older, able to work with others, able to complete activities assigned to them, comfortable working in a small, poor, rural community in Nicaragua, open minded, friendly, self-motivated, responsible, and trustworthy.
