Support Zanzibar Dog Shelter

Help take care of street dogs and support rescue activities in Zanzibar. Find a new home for helpless animals.

Combine your passion for animals and desire to give back to society by improving the unfortunate situation of abandoned street animals in Zanzibar. During this volunteering program, you can help to look for a new safe and beautiful home for stray dogs.

The program aims to improve the situation of animals who are homeless. Due to the amount of work that it takes to keep the program running, the help provided by volunteers is always greatly appreciated. Animals are only mediated when a family has the correct surrounding for a dog.

Before starting your volunteer work project, you will receive an orientation by our local staff. The local stuff is run by English speaking people. They are very happy to welcome volunteers from all over the world. Usually, you will be in the program with other volunteers. The project can be reached with a 20-minute walk at the beach or with a local transportation in 10 minutes.  

As the dog shelter is going to move in July/ August to a different place, the journey to the project is a little bit longer then.

 

Start Dates

You can start the project very flexible, each Monday. Arriving day is Sunday. You will get an pick-up at the airport in Zanzibar. It takes 1 1/2 hour to get to the accommodation from the airport.
