Itinerary

Day 1 Los Angeles

Begin the day amid the skyscrapers and stardust of LA.

Day 2 Joshua Tree National Park/ Lake Havasu

Spy the distinctive Joshua trees, so named by Mormon settlers who saw the branches as reaching up toward heaven, while travelling through this scenic national park. Follow the western sun over the Colorado River to the campsite beside Lake Havasu.

Day 3 Grand Canyon

Escape the heat of the desert and head to the mountains, towards the Grand Canyon. One of the world's greatest natural wonders, the canyon is a remarkable 450 km long and 1,600 m deep - so there's plenty to see.

Days 4-5 Las Vegas

Go west through the Kaibab National Forest and get onto infamous Route 66. Cross the Mojave Desert and head towards Las Vegas, a fast, loud world where neon lights shine bright day and night.

Day 6 Sierra Nevada

Cross through Death Valley, a desolate, barren place and the hottest in the US.

Day 7 Yosemite National Park

Journey over Tioga Pass to Yosemite, a larger-than-life photographer's dream. The stunning combination of granite cliffs, waterfalls and green meadows set against a blue sky makes for an unforgettable day out. Follow the paved path to Mirror Lake in time for sunset.

Day 8 San Francisco

Why not stay on to experience the many facets of the city from Chinatown and Golden Gate Park, to zany SoMa and its collection of outrageous art venues.
