These local NGO, being typically new, are in shortage of finance, human resources and skills. There is a need for building up their capacity in different approaches, in which involving a foreigner in the office could help improve their communication skills, working skills and assist in bridging local NGOs with new partners in other countries. There are currently placements in local NGOs in the following sectors; community health, HIV/AIDS, community development and natural conservation. Once again volunteers' roles will vary dependent on the type of organization they work with but typical work can include; writing proposals and reports, improving staff's English and communication skills, assisting with fundraising initiatives and networking with international partners. NB In order to do this program volunteers must be staying for a minimum of 4 weeks. If you are staying for less than 4 weeks you can do the teaching or caring for disabled children/orphanage program.
