General Info

English teachers in Russia typically find work all year round with some peak seaons towards the beginning of September or October, and then again in January, with most contracts ending in late June. There are also ample amount of teaching jobs in Russia to find work year round in the larger cities. Most of the English teaching job opportunities allow for interviews in advance for positions, but English teachers may also interview in Russia if they choose to take a TEFL class there. English teachers will be responsible for their airfare, as well as housing, although there are some schools that provide housing for their teachers. Most teachers live in apartments recently vacated by previous teachers, and many room with their coworkers.


A solid hourly wage affords English teachers to live a very comfortable life. Schools typically offer around 20-25 hours per week of work, leaving you plenty of opportunity to travel and explore. English teachers do not need to have a BA to teach in Russia, although it is preferred, and a TEFL certification is absolutely necessary.
