Huvadhoo Aid (HAD) exists to enable the rural people to work effectively in promoting and advancing the interests of the rural community of the Maldives to attain basic needs. We work to build a united and strong community for the advancement of the island.

We base our actions to enable the community and NGOs to effectively promote and advance the interests, well-being of island community, and improve the effectiveness of the NGOs serving the community. Especially we seek to strengthen our actions for poverty alleviation in the community by promoting equity and equality.

As a non-profit organisation the funding sources are limited and the amount of funding which the organisation can generate is also limited. It has number of youth volunteers who work for the development of the region. Most of these volunteers are local youth. However, from time to time foreign volunteers work in Huvadhoo Aid.

At Huvadhoo Aid we alway value work of our Volunteers. Not only we give volunteers opportunity to work in Huvadhoo aid, but also we give opportunities for volunteers to work in other NGOs in the region. We have good working relation with most of the NGOs in the region.

Our volunteering fees include all your food and accommodation, a local sim-card for your phone, visa costs, 24 hour support, local transportation both to and within the atoll, weekly activities and anything else you will require specific to your placement. Weekly activities may involve fishing trips, snorkeling round the coral reefs or picnics to uninhabited islands.

Locals will more often than not be used for transport within the atoll, and as much of our food as possible is locally sourced. Our transparent policy ensures that our volunteers know exactly where their money goes.
