Take action against wildlife trade from deterrence action in Merapoh, Malaysia to rehabilitation centre in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

You don't need a cape to be a superhero, you have the power in you! Join our team in one of our anti-poaching jungle treks and track signs of life both humans and animals in the oldest rainforest in Malaysia. The wildlife corridor between the Taman Negara National Park and the main mountain range in West Malaysia is the last rainforest connection between Taman Negara and the main mountain range and is currently used by wild animals like a highway. Without the wildlife corridor connection, the populations of Tigers, Elephants, Sun Bears and Leopards would be doomed. Your presence will act as a deterrent to poachers by jungle trekking in this area of lush tropical rainforest while also collecting vital data on animal tracks and signs. The corridor is also where poaching is at its densest!

Other than that, go limestone caving and help us to preserve local limestone caves. You will also get to forage and camp with the Batek ladies (a local indigenous tribe) and go trekking in areas off traditional routes to cover as much area as possible. The Batek still make the forest their home and still practice hunting and gathering lifestyle.

After 1/2 weeks in the rainforest, you will then head to Yogyakarta, Indonesia at our partner's Wildlife Rescue Centre. The centre provides care to rescued animals and rehabilitate them when possible for their eventual release to the wild. It is also home to several animals that cannot be returned to the wild due to health or behavioural complications.

Shadow an animal vet there and learn as much as you can on how to care, rehabilitate and release these animals effectively. Get a unique opportunity to get close to the animals, observe and interact with them and contribute to their welfare at the Centre!

You will also get to embrace traditions and culture at a weekly Javan dinner where you’ll eat at a local house in the village. Volunteers will also help with teaching local English classes and get the chance to know the community in which you’re living.
