Come and help us to conduct tropical coral reef and seagrass research on the tropical island paradise, the Perhentian Islands. The aim of the project is to first map and then assess the health of the seagrass beds, coral reefs and other habitats around the islands. This beautiful island deserves to have its beauty preserved for the future generations to appreciate!

You will join our researchers to help collect data on the seagrass beds, corals reefs and artificial reefs in the Perhentian Islands. What research you help us with depends on what we will be doing at the time when you start.

The focus of our efforts will be on a programme called ‘Conservation in Action’, which will include reef cleans ‘diving against debris’, photo identification of sharks and turtles, and maintaining a coral nursery. For this course, you can volunteer for a minimum of 1 or 2 weeks (if you don’t have a PADI).

You will be based in the village allowing you to understand more about the local culture as you get to interact and work with the villagers and play with the children.

If you have never dived before don’t worry, you can conduct your PADI open water with us and one of our local dive centre partners. We prefer to use the current dives centre to help share the wealth and build stronger bonds with the dive centres. We aim to work with the local community and not against them so we can all grow together!
