Our Training School for Riding and Rescue Horse Rehabilitation is a considered to be a niche training experience open to all students, new and experienced, aged 18 and over. The Coordinator in charge of all volunteers has over 30 years of experience in the field. He is accustomed to training and starting colts and has worked with many abused and challenging horses, including American Mustangs. These are horses that require a patient, thoughtful and consistent approach.

The main goals of the Training School is to enable the students to rehabilitate rescued horses while learning safe horsemanship and helping these horses find forever homes. Classes are designed for a maximum of six students covering the fundamentals of horsemanship from safe groundwork, riding, body control, successful communication and critical evaluation of their horse, and of themselves. Keeping the groups small ensures that each rider gets a rich, personalized experience, with opportunities to build on existing knowledge. A strong emphasis is placed on consideration for the rider and for the horse. Lessons are taught in the Western style of riding making the training School a uniquely American experience.

Each student will be assigned one horse that is theirs to work with over a minimum stay if 4 weeks, care for and train during the duration of their stay. There will also be other horses being cared for at the Training School who may be made available for groundwork or special exercises, depending on the needs of the students and the horses. The ability of each horse and rider is completely unique and therefore students should come with an open mindset and be prepared to train a ‘green’ horse, teaching the basics which are often overlooked in other training programs.
