French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts is located on a private lake in the western Catskills of New York State, just 120 miles from New York City. French Woods offers summer camp programs in dance, theater, music, circus, magic, visual arts, sports, and horseback riding programs.

Each child, works with our staff to design his or her own unique summer experience. We are at the same time, a theater camp, an art camp, a dance camp, a circus camp, a horseback riding camp, a sports camp, a magic camp, and a camp that offers all the traditional camp activites, with world class programs that each child can choose a-la-cart.

Children from throughout the United States and around the world participate in a program run by certified teachers and complimented by counselor specialists. Staff enable us to provide the finest instruction in music, theatre, dance, circus, art, sports, horseback riding, tennis, waterfront, computers and challenge ropes course. Unlike many other camps, we hire specialty counselors exclusively at French Woods. A specialist has strong skills and teaching abilities in one or more of the areas listed on the application. You do not need to have skills in several areas, we are looking for a strong background within a given area.

French Woods has a wide range of activities with a diverse range of positions available for summer 2008, the earlier you apply, the more positions will likely be available:

Music: all orchestral instruments, piano, keyboards, guitar and voice, musical directors and conductors, rock music instructors, drums, bass, keyboards, songwriting

Dance: ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, show choreography, other styles of dance

Theatre: directing, acting teachers, set design and construction, scenic painters, lighting, sound, video, choreography, music directors

Art: Painting and drawing, cartooning, ceramics, silk screen, tie dye, jewellery, leather, woodworking, stained glass, black and white photography, digital photography, graphic design, knitting, rocketry, other craft areas

Circus: all types of trapeze, lyra, silk, rings, other arial acts, clowning, juggling, web, globe, fire eating, unicycle, stilts gymnasts, martial artists, magic cards, close up and stage illusions

Sports: basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, roller hockey and blading, skateboarding, mountain biking , BMX biking, fencing, martial arts and weight training, gymnastics, golf

Waterfront: American Red Cross certified specialists in swimming, sailing, waterskiing, boating, canoeing

Horseback Riding: English and Western styles, grooming and stable maintenance, dressage, jumping

Positions also available in: Computers (Macintosh), ropes course, climbing wall, medical physician, RN and LPN, kitchen and dining room chefs and cooks, baker, cleaners, dishwashers
