ABOUT US : Eighth Wonder International Recruiting is a recruiting company based in Durban, South Africa. Our main aim is at recruiting foreign teachers to undertake to do a Voluntary Teaching Internship in local community schools as a means to both promote cultural exchange and assist the community by aiding in improving the level of education available to children in the local community . " Education is key and knowledge is power ". EDUCATION : South African has a 3 tier educational system, starting with primary school, followed by high school and tertiary education in the form of (academic ) universities and universities of technology . Learners have twelve years of formal schooling, from grade 1 - 12 . Grade R is a pre-primary foundation year . Primary school spans the first seven years of schooling . High school education spans a further five years . The Senior Certificate examination takes place at the end of grade 12 and is necessary for tertiary studies at a South African university . INTERNSHIP : Voluntary Teaching Internship placements will be in public schools in Durban, South Africa, namely Austerville, a close knit community nestled on the east coast of Kwazulu Natal . A community that is diverse and rich with culture and tradition.
