The Nakavango Conservation Programme has teamed up with EcoTraining, pioneer and leader in field guide and nature training, to offer a 55-day nature guide training course at The Stanley and Livingstone Private Game Reserve near Victoria Falls.

Why do this course?

While this course forms the foundation for a career in field guiding (and many other wildlife orientated careers), many participants enrol onto this course for a gap year experience or extended bush holiday. Participants older than 18 years, holding a valid driver’s license and from all walks of life are invited to enrol.

Participants will have the opportunity to attempt their EcoTraining and FGASA Level 1 qualification, by successfully completing a theoretical and practical assessment. These assessments will be conducted by EcoTraining instructors (who are accredited FGASA assessors) at Nakavango, during the course

Although the course is based at Nakavango on the Stanley and Livingstone Private Game Reserve, students will enjoy visits to the Chobe National Park in Botswana, the Zambezi National Park in Zimbabwe as well as the extraordinary Victoria Falls, within the Victoria Falls National Park. This allows students on this course to enjoy the additional benefit of experiencing different areas, wildlife, biomes and biodiversity.

Daily morning and evening activities alternate between game walks and game drives. Midday lectures involve typical instruction and discussion, on the subject or game encounter of the day. This is follwed by personal study time and relaxation.
