We provide responsible and meaningful working holidays, volunteer programmes and gap year travel in Africa. Our volunteer projects include: wildlife conservation volunteering, community development programmes and volunteer teaching.

Conservation Travel Africa specialise in providing meaningful and worthwhile volunteer holidays across Southern Africa. Our projects are suitable for people of all ages, whether as part of a gap year programme, working holiday, career break or for older volunteers seeking a new challenge. We are also proud to be one of the only agents offering hands-on wildlife conservation programmes to family volunteers.

What makes us different?

We know there are lots of volunteer projects out there, how are ours different?

By being based on the ground in the heart of Southern Africa, we are able to ensure first-hand that all of our volunteer programmes have a long term and sustainable structure with measurable and achievable goals. We can also check that they continue to operate to benefit the animals, people and communities they were put in place to help, rather than simply offering a tourist experience. Our volunteers make a difference to only long term, sustainable programmes.

If you want to make a real difference, meet inspirational people and contribute to real projects, our programmes are for you!

Why volunteer in Africa?

Africa is vibrant, colourful, noisy and exciting! Volunteering in Africa will open your eyes, your mind and your heart and you will have the experience of a lifetime.

Our aim is to conserve and protect the wild areas of Africa and use volunteer tourism to share these areas with guests and help ensure their future protection. Our volunteers play a crucial role in donations of time, skills, energy and enthusiasm and without volunteers, many projects would struggle to continue their work.

Conservation Travel Africa Reviews

Most rewarding holiday

Last year, I have volunteered with Conservation Travel Africa, and I have to say, it was one of the most fun and unique experiences. Not only I met so many great people from around the world that are now some of my close friends, but I also experienced the African wildlife in the best possible, most rewarding way. I went to Zimbabwe Imire on their rhino program, and got to work up close not only with rhinos, but elephants, lion, hyenas, sable antelopes, and other great animals. I have volunteered with other programs, but this one is so unique, you're never bored, always having fun and learning new stuff! That is why I always recommend this to all my friends and all people asking about volunteering in Africa. Well done, keep up the great work!
