Programs

CEDEI offers the following programs:

English Program:
Learning English with a dynamic methodology through games and class participation allows students to easily increase needed oral and writing skills. During the course of the program and under the guidance of teachers, the student will progressively develop English language skills, allowing them to communicate effectively. Our purpose is to make English a friendly language. All our staff has an academic level of excellence. The teachers are native English speakers, come from different parts of the world, and have a fluent mastery of the language, along with the academic certification necessary for teaching.

CEDEI School
Cedei School is a multilingual, multicultural environment for children grades K-12. It is primarily an English Language School, where students receive instruction from native speaking English teachers. French is taught from the third grade onward. Throughout the school, we incorporate the methodology of Multiple Intelligences. Mathematical/Logic, Language/linguistic, Spatial, Naturistic, Intra and Inter Personal, Musical, and Kinesthetic are eight intelligences that every human being possesses. We consider each child individually and encourage the development of the different intelligences. Each intelligence is strengthened in English and Spanish allowing children to become bilingual while learning other subjects.

CEDEI International Programs
The department offers academic and cultural programs for groups from different countries of the world, mainly the United States, through the agreements that CEDEI maintains with foreign universities. Also offered are Spanish classes for foreigners, according to their language level.

CEDEI TEFL Certification Program
CEDEI offers you the opportunity to earn your TEFL Certificate in Ecuador in an on-site language school where over 900 Ecuadorian students attend English classes every semester. The course consists of 114 hours of coursework providing students with information on current practice, theory, and research in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language. The daily schedule includes two 90-minute classes focused on methodology and teaching techniques, and two hours of teaching practice with Ecuadorian English students. Our approach also takes into consideration the importance of cultural context in learning English; thus, our program offers travel to sites of historical and cultural interest during the program as well as the opportunity to live with a local host family.

CEDEI Spanish
The CEDEI Foundation's Spanish Program offers courses for adults who wish to study Spanish in Cuenca as well as children and teens. Classes are taught by Ecuadorian teachers who, in addition to being native Spanish speakers, are also experts in language instruction. The Spanish courses are designed for consistent and progressive development of Spanish language skills, from the first day of classes. Learn Spanish using a dynamic methodology which includes things like games and class participation to help increase language skills. There are a variety of class schedules and locations in the Cuenca area. Cedei also offers one-on-one tutoring for those who prefer to learn with their own private Spanish tutor.
