Research projects include shark research, invasive species projects & bird projects. Volunteers will spend time in the West Coast town of Langebaan, famous for its wonderful kitesurfing spots!

The Cape Town Research and Conservation Initiative undertakes environmental research and conservation action in collaboration with our partners in the Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve situated in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.

Our research centre is based in Langebaan, a small town ideally situated in the scenic Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve, just an hour's drive north of Cape Town. Volunteers will be based at the research centre, participating in our research and conservation programmes across the region.

Our goal is to research and conserve vitally significant aspects of the biosphere reserve.

Our programs include long term monitoring, mapping, and fieldwork, providing scientific data to our partners. In addition, we actively undertake the execution of conservation strategies and contribution to environmental awareness.
