With a focus on fun, our elective program allows campers to choose from over 50 activities to create a personalized schedule throughout their 2, 4, or 6 week stay.

Camp Birch Hill is nestled on 106 scenic acres in the lakes region of New Hampshire, and has been family owned and operated for over two decades under the direction of Rich Morell and his family.

Each summer, Camp Birch Hill is home to Boys and Girls from all over the world, ages 6 to 16.  With a focus on fun, our elective program lets campers choose from over 50 activities to create their own personalized schedule, while constantly being given the encouragement and option to try new activities.  

Our facilities include an indoor gymnasium, horse stables with riding ring and scenic trails, ball fields, 4 newly renovated tennis courts, pickle ball courts, gaga pits, paddle tennis courts, basketball courts, beach volleyball, street hockey arena, golf driving range, and a fun miniature golf course.  

Our stage and fine arts complex which is home to our arts and crafts pavilion and pottery barn, along with the home of our plays, music classes, special events and some of our most memorable evening programs.  

Another major feature of Camp Birch Hill is the 2,000 feet of shoreline and crystal clear waters of our private lake along with the expansive waters of Merrymeeting Lake for water-skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing.  

Last but not least, we have to mention our newly rebuilt climbing tower, low ropes course and high ropes course that connects to our 200 ft. zipline!  

All of these activities are are facilitated by our award winning staff of caring, fun-loving, experienced and diverse college age counselors.

Work at Camp Burch Hill

If you have a passion for working with children and love the outdoors camp birch hill could be the perfect summer job for you.

Counselors must be 18+ years old and have previous experience in one or more teaching areas listed in the activity list below. Birch Hill has been fortunate to employ caring, talented and upbeat staff members from all over the United States, Europe, New Zealand and Australia!

The directors select Birch Hill staff with the utmost care and seek the brightest, most dynamic role models with exceptional skills in their respective program areas.  We believe that our counselors are a crucial element in the Birch Hill camp experience.  

It is important to remember that, as a counselor, you are expected to put the campers’ needs first and your own needs second.  It is the strong dedication to the individual campers’ needs that will determine your campers experience and ultimately direct the kind of counselor you become.

Responsibilities of a Camp Birch Hill counselor include:

  • Living in a cabin with eight to ten campers and a co-counselor and being responsible for their safety and for cultivating a fun cabin atmosphere.
  • The fun-o-meter can escalate pretty quickly! As a counselor, you must maintain order on all occasions in camp, out of camp and in all buildings.
  • You will look out for campers’ health and well-being. If necessary, you will need to send campers to the infirmary for treatment

It is important to empower your campers to keep neat and clean, encouraging frequent showers and good personal hygiene habits.  

You will be responsible for your program area. This includes actively participating in the organization and execution of activities, motivating campers to pursue goals in the program, and maintaining the space where the program is taking place.

While you will be responsible for teaching only in your program area, we pride ourselves on providing campers with a well-rounded experience at Birch Hill so it is important to encourage your camper’s participation in all of the scheduled program areas.

Lifeguard certifications is required for all waterfront positions, (lifeguard courses are available at Camp Birch Hill in the weeks before camp begins).

All staff members must attend a pre-camp orientation week. This is a great opportunity for our counselors and staff to get acquainted and get excited for the season! Positive energy and uplifting morale make Birch Hill experience unforgettable. Attitude is everything!
