Work in Ireland (USA RESIDENTS ONLY)

Work in Ireland provides participants with the opportunity to explore Ireland and to get to know the Irish people and their culture through living and working there for up to four months.

General Info

Twenty first century Ireland is a land steeped in literature, history and folklore but with a modern, thriving, youthful culture. The Emerald Isle has much to offer, with its youthful culture, lush green scenery, miles of deserted beaches, spectacular seascapes, mountains, lakes, ancient castles, quiet country towns and villages and the bustling city of Dublin.

Typical jobs might be associated with tourism, or in retail or office work. Dublin, with its sophisticated business and cultural lifestyle, is the main destination.

Ireland is just a short hop across the Atlantic and a good place from which to start a trip to other European countries. This is a program which should appeal most to the independent traveler.
How the program works

Work in Ireland is authorized by the Irish Government to allow US students to travel and work in Ireland for up to four months. The sponsor in Ireland is USIT and the program is administered in the USA by BUNAC. On Work in Ireland, you are permitted to take any job, anywhere in the Republic of Ireland in order to support yourself financially.

Participants must book a flight to Dublin as this is the location of the mandatory arrival orientation. Orientations are held on average three times a week and last about one and a half hours. The four-month program clock starts ticking on entry into Ireland and will expire exactly four months later. It is not possible to extend this visa.
