Job Description

Work as a climbing instructor on BUNAC’s Summer Camp USA programme – the leading US work and travel experience! Spend nine weeks working with kids aged between 6 and 16 on an American summer camp.

Rock climbing instructors work to enhance and develop campers’ skills and proficiency in rock climbing throughout the camp session. You will work with children of all ages and abilities normally in small groups. The facilities for rock climbing vary between camps. Some camps have basic climbing facilities on low-element rock climbing courses, whilst other camps have climbing and abseil towers. Some camps also travel within the local area to take the campers rock climbing in the mountains.

After camp, take advantage of the additional 30 days to travel around the USA, Canada and Mexico. Visit beautiful natural landmarks such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Niagara Falls, and experience world-class cities including New York, Chicago and San Francisco, to name only a few.

Experience Required

BUNAC individually places applicants on summer camps according to their preferences, skills and experience. Many camps have climbing walls and ropes/adventure courses, and so look to recruit anyone who has training in these areas in addition to experience of working with children in a leadership position. Applicants must also be aged 18 or above.
