About

SJ is an educational trust, overseen by a Council of Trustees and a Board of Governors. It does not have shareholders and all profits are reinvested to improve teaching and learning opportunities in our exceptional school.

The School has been present in Jakarta for over 40 years and moved to a new, purpose-built location in 1994. Set in southwest Jakarta, the campus occupies 18 hectares of a green-field site and has attractive, well-equipped facilities including an olympic–size swimming pool, theatre and a new purpose-built sports hall including all-weather playing surfaces.

Learning Technology at BSJ has been a strategic focus for the past 3 years. The school has implemented 1:1 student device programs with iPads in primary school and laptops in secondary school. In 2017, BSJ was awarded Distinguished Apple School status for Innovation, Leadership, and Educational Excellence in our Learning Technology programs. We were also recognized as a Common Sense Media Digital Citizenship Certified School for our work integrating Digital Citizenship into all year levels and subject areas across the curriculum.

Currently, BSJ has 1,233 students enrolled, aged 3 to 18. We have students from over 50 countries, who follow courses based upon the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and IB MYP (Middle Years Program) up to age 16 and complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma thereafter. Approximately 40% of our students come from the UK, Australia/New Zealand and other Commonwealth countries with English as the common language of instruction.

Academic standards are high throughout the school in IGCSE, GCSE and IB examinations. The IB Diploma pass rate is normally 100% which places BSJ in the top 5% of IB schools worldwide and our overall performance is comparable to good independent schools in the UK. We are dedicated to education in a broad sense. The school year is packed with sporting and cultural activities and students enjoy a stimulating environment where internationalism is fostered.

Teaching Careers

Teachers at BSJ come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some are experienced international school teachers, whilst others have joined us directly from the UK system. There are over 140 teachers who all share a common belief in the benefits of international schooling and are committed to providing the best education possible for our students.

BSJ recruits well qualified, experienced career professionals with relevant EYFS, International Primary Curriculum (IPC), IB MYP, IGCSE, GCSE and IB experience. Contributions to co-curricular programmes are essential. Outstanding teachers from other backgrounds will be considered if the applicant is willing to learn and work within the BSJ system and ethos.

The remuneration package is excellent and reflects the status and quality of this internationally renowned school and includes:
