BSB is the only British School in Azerbaijan and that is what gives it its distinctive character. Our curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum which, in the 26 years since it was introduced, has become one of the most respected globally and prepares children for study at university level around the world.

Mission & Objectives

We believe that learning is a lifelong process, which involves every person in our school community.

Our objectives reflect this:

  • Offers students a caring and supportive environment, which treats each as an individual and challenges all to excel, and at the same time, to model the behaviour expected of responsible citizens of both school and society.
  • Gives each student the essential knowledge and skills, a joy of learning and the motivation to become a lifelong learner.
  • Provides a quality education, based on the English National Curriculum and leading to UK public examinations and entry to some of the best universities in the world.
  • Develops a social climate in the school which models international understanding, the acceptance and enjoyment of the diverse cultures represented by the school community.
  • Encourages individuals to make a positive and responsible contribution to the life of our school and the wider community.
  • Emphasises the importance of collaboration between parents and the school so that all parents have the opportunity to be actively involved in their children's education.

Employment

As the school grows we are in need of new staff each year.

Teachers for the British stream should have either an initial Educational degree or an added PGCE from a UK or equivalent university. Local British trained ex-pats are very welcome to apply as well as teachers currently in other locations. Experience in the Cambridge Primary Curriculum and the National Curriculum of England and Wales is an added advantage.

We also employ local staff who have teaching experience as well as excellent English skills (IELTS level 6.0 - 6.5 or above). Classroom Assistants are employed in all primary classes and should have strong English skills, with an IELTS of 5.0 – 5.5 or above as well. All local staff need to have a degree in Education.
