What makes Aidan College unique?

Aidan College, founded in 2011, fills a unique niche in Swiss post-secondary education by providing a structured environment in which young people can combine stimulating academic enquiry with a wide range of challenging pursuits.

Ideally suited for students who have decided to take a gap year prior to university, are reapplying to a university of first choice or wish to study in Europe within the framework of a university course, the College provides highly individualised tutorials in a range of subject areas. In addition to these, the College organises and facilitates a broad palette of physical, creative and cultural activities. Teaching is in the semi-formal style still favoured by certain traditional universities, with groups of no more than three students.

Aidan College is deliberately small, to ensure that it remains personal, supportive and friendly. Its students have chosen to join an intimate community of motivated learners who are keen to venture into new territory, literally and metaphorically. They are keen to discover, to create, to master, to make friendships and to lead generous lives.

Aidan College provides an opportunity to develop independence whilst still providing a supportive framework and a "safe base". For some young people it may represent a first stay away from home, or a first experience of personal autonomy. In this respect it provides a perfect transition to the full independence of university or working life.

Aidan College is able to call upon a remarkably diversified and highly experienced teaching staff, keen to bring their particular special skills and passions into contact with open-minded and motivated learners. Their diverse knowledge, language skills and pedagogic approaches ensure that students are constantly stimulated as thinkers and discoverers.
