Join the dynamic world of a wildlife capture team in South Africa

On joining the dedicated mass and specialised Wildlife Capture Team, you will be part of a relocating wildlife organisation. This is crucial for wildlife conservation and management, whilst game capture facilitates the practical hands on work with the wildlife.  Learning about their behaviour to assist in the movements, you are often close enough to touch and smell them.

- Join the capture team in Southern Africa

- Get involved in the physical capture, translocation and release of wildlife

- Establish specialised net and curtain capture bomas in the bush

- Help with animal care in quarantine bomas when necessary

- Camp in the African bush

The work that is done is essential to the continued existence and conservation of species endemic to southern Africa. The careful handling of rare and endangered species and general game is an important element to the project. It also has huge economic benefit to the country and local employment. We are proud to help provide a positive impact to both wildlife and local communities, whilst getting the volunteer into the thick of action.

This project allows you into a world of travelling through stunning landscapes and a cultural experience only this industry provides. Game Capture is often subject to the whims of the elements, especially the wind, and of course the animals themselves, flexibility is key.

The animals that you will likely to be working with range from antelope species such as roan and sable. Others could include mass captures of zebra and antelope, as well as large species such as Giraffe, Buffalo and Rhino. Some of these will need to be darted and sedated. The volunteer then may be involved with the husbandry of the animals in quarantine bomas, whilst the animals are tested for disease.

The volunteer will be travelling to other regions of South Africa as the capture team moves between capture and release sites, camping in the bush or en route while on extended captures.

Some of the operations will require helicopter asstistance, and there maybe an oppurtunity for the volunteer to catch a ride.

This is a project for volunteers with a sense of adventure.
