Our Spanish school offers individual and group lessons for all levels of Spanish (beginner to advanced) and also organizes special courses including classes for Spanish teachers, classes designed for Brazilian students, Spanish and Tango, and Spanish and volunteering, among others.

Academia Uruguay was founded in 2007 as an independent branch of Academia Buenos Aires. It was at this time that we realised Uruguay was missing quality institutions dedicated to the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. Simultaneously, the country was gaining popularity with tourists for its wide variety of attractive destinations. In 2011 we opened Academia Bariloche in Argentina, which functions on the same principles regarding standards of excellence and quality education as its counterparts in Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

We offer several types of courses and skill-levels to meet your personal needs and enhance your learning experience. All classes are taught entirely in Spanish and have been prepared specifically for foreign students. This unique methodology of teaching Spanish as a second language assures that you will progress quickly. Classes begin throughout the year. You choose the length of the course that best fits you. Simply contact us by mail or phone and complete the online reservation form. Because our students have a variety of backgrounds and special needs, we also offer a series of customized learning programs for exchange students, Brazilian students and Spanish teachers. Please consult us for details.

You can expect services based on academic excellence, professionalism and complete immersion.

Volunteering

Academia Uruguay offers students the possibility to combine Spanish courses with volunteer work. Students can work for different organizations and projects in Montevideo in order to discover the particular issues affecting beneficiaries, and to work together with them for mutual socio-cultural development via complete immersion in local life.

Volunteering is a valuable life experience, to be a volunteer is to offer help to people to who truly need it; it’s making a difference. It is also rewarding for the volunteers themselves, who gain experience, learn new skills, meet people of diverse backgrounds and learn to value and respect differences. Anyone is qualified to volunteer and make a positive impact on the community.

In short, to volunteer is to freely offer time, knowledge, experience, ideas and skills without pay in return. It’s to act cohesively, keeping in mind that individual actions form part of a greater picture; generating an improvement for a particular social group.

The program is available for free for students who meet the following requirements:

  1. Are taking at least three weeks of Spanish classes.
  2. Perform volunteer work for at least a month.
  3. Have an intermediate level of Spanish (minimum B1).
